We Take a Minimal Intervention Approach Whilst Utilising Traditional Best Practice Repair Methods
Specialist façade repairs and repointing to help repair and maintain listed, historic or period property.
We help buildings live into the 21st Century and beyond, our solutions and long-term approach help maximise façades performance & ROI.
At Building Transformation we take samples of your decaying or failing building fabric, we create test samples blocks for you to check the colour and texture of the repair mortar and type before applying to your building. We advise you where to avoid repairs, highlighting alternative options for the building’s maintenance, taking a minimal intervention approach. We are experts in façade restoration, employing traditional methods and experienced craftsmen to clean, repair, paint, replace, replaster and restore your building façade for generations to come. We work in line with the philosophy of English Heritage and Historic England, helping period properties and historic buildings live into the 21st Century. Working with minimal intervention and utilising methods and techniques that are aligned with the building’s history and future performance needs, conservation and sustainability are at the heart of what we do. “Conservation is the process of managing change to a significant place or building, how best to maintain its values, whilst recognising opportunities to reveal or reinforce these values for present and future generations.” (Conservation Principles, Policies and Guidance 2015).

Listed buildings and period properties are constructed with a wide variety of materials, often using local materials which need to be matched during the restoration. Beautifully designed and intelligently engineered buildings, building façades and the general external building fabric are left to fend for themselves for hundreds of years with little or no maintenance, leaving materials to weather and decay. We generally use low pressure steam cleaning methods for soft soiling matter and combine it with a range of other specialist cleaning methods such as TORC (aggregate based methods, poultice, nebulous and chemicals are used in a targeted manner to help soften certain forms of pollution). We use traditional methods of conservation to restore, preserve and maintain historic buildings for many years to come.
