Aggregate Cleaning Methods Utilised for Cleaning and Removing Solid Surface Pollutants Such as Carbon, Salts and Paint from Stone, Brick and Masonry.

If you need a stronger solution to clean and restore your building, to help remove solid, more stubborn pollutants, paints or coating systems then aggregate based cleaning methods can form part of a successful restoration if used correctly. Aggregate types, pressures and flow rates must all be adjusted to sensitively strip, clean and restore with precision and care, a one size fit all approach will simply lead to the deterioration of the material surface with high risks of over-cleaning.

Our 21st Century approach drives all our activities; we help future proof the built environment and property investments.

Stone, brick and masonry; we restore and rejuvenate your building with innovative soft swirling abrasive and light sandblast building cleaning. We work in line with the philosophy of English Heritage and Historic England, helping period properties and historic buildings live into the 21st Century. Working with minimal intervention and utilising methods and techniques that are aligned with the building’s history and future performance needs, conservation and sustainability are at the heart of what we do.

    Light abrasive cleaning

If your building cleaning project requires some gentle abrasion, Building Transformation can help you to select the most appropriate aggregate method for your soiling or paint type.

VorTech is a ‘swirl-abrasive’ system, borne out of the “Jos” technology, originally developed in Germany, in the 1980s. The system uses a selected abrasive carried by a flow of compressed air to a nozzle, at which point, water is added. The mixture then passes through the nozzle and exits in a vortex, which is directed at the substrate to be cleaned.

The VorTech system we use is an innovative way of cleaning your building and helping to shift stubborn coatings and paint. The VorTech system has many advantages including:

The VorTech system has many advantages including:

    • Portable design.
    • Requires minimal maintenance.
    • Robust, user-friendly controls.
    • Improved sensitivity and repeatability of adjustment.
    • Reduced reliance on electricity.
    • Reduced costs.
    • Increased performance without compromise of sensitivity

The VorTech is our go-to solution for light aggregate cleaning, as it allows us to clean your building sensitively and efficiently. Coupled with the environmentally friendly build, this method of cleaning sits within the conservation-based approach of Cladding Transformation and many of our clients.

Our light abrasive cleaning services can be used on the following:

    • Paints
    • Dirt
    • Carbon
    • Graffiti
    • Fungus
    • Algae
    • Stone
    • Brick
    • Residential properties
    • Commercial properties
    • Listed and heritage buildings

Certain situations call for a more abrasive method of cleaning in order to achieve the desired result. This is where blast cleaning and stripping comes into its own. Delivered at high speed through a hose and nozzle, abrasive material and compressed air hits the surface with a punch, stripping away stubborn rust, dirt, varnish, paint and coatings with ease. This method is ideal for preparing surfaces for recoating or painting, or simply for removing years (or centuries) of dirt accumulation on aged brickwork.

Our sandblasting services can be used on the following:

    • Stone
    • Brick
    • Flooring
    • Beams
    • Graffiti
    • Residential properties
    • Stone
    • Brick
    • Residential properties
    • Commercial properties
    • Listed and heritage buildings

The approach and advice on setting up the works at the Wolverhampton Civic Centre were first-class. Building Transformation’s attention to detail was excellent and the RAMS were followed meticulously to every detail. We were delighted with the works and service, and would not hesitate to use them again, nor hesitate to recommend them to any organisation.

    Kevin Egginton - Wolverhampton Council

A 200,000 sq. ft., four-storey leisure venue in the heart of Nottingham city centre surrounded by major traffic routes needed work to be done overnight to deal with the traffic issues, while the site remained open throughout. The project took around three weeks to complete and went exceptionally well; the Building Transformation staff were flexible and able to work round dynamic operational issues. The clean was of a high standard and has made a significant different to the image of the building. A very difficult job done well.
